How to Fix “Only one message at a time. Please allow any other responses to complete” in ChatGPT

Last Updated on April 26, 2023 By Arsalan Rauf

Are you facing an “Only one message at a time” error message in ChatGPT?

The next part of the error is, “Please allow any other responses to complete”.

Accompanied by, “Before sending another message, or wait one minute”.

The error message occurs when you try to send over one prompt.

In this article, I will tell you how to fix the “Only one message at a time. Please allow any other responses to complete” error in ChatGPT.

What does “Only one message at a time” mean in ChatGPT?

“Only one message at a time” in ChatGPT means that you have already sent a prompt and the system is still processing a response to your previous prompt.

Consequently, the system is not accepting the new prompt from you.

The purpose of this error message is to stop users from sending multiple messages at the same time to prevent overloading.

Additionally, it’s a reminder that you have already generated a response from the system, wait for it.

This step is taken to make the system more accurate and give you an accurate result for every message.

It also reduces the delays and errors that can be caused if you send too many messages at once.

How to fix “Only one message at a time. Please allow any other responses to complete” in ChatGPT

To fix “Only one message at a time. Please allow any other responses to complete” in ChatGPT, you have to sign in to OpenAI on different tabs with different Gmail accounts.

This will allow you to send messages at the same time from different tabs without waiting for each response to process.

However, it will not be wise as it can put a load on the servers and cause errors on it.

Having said that, this method is shared with you after testing it myself and it works without any delays.

I opened chat.openai.com from two different accounts on two different tabs and logged in to both of them in different browsers with two different Google accounts.

After that, I sent two prompts on both of them and ChatGPT generated both of them.

If you also do not want to do that to prevent the outage, you should use one account at a time.

The reason is that ChatGPT does not allow you to send more than one message at a time.

This step is taken to mitigate lagging, overloading and inaccurate results.

If the error message is still present even the response is generated for the previous message, refresh the page and try again.

Additionally, you can wait it out or sign out or sign in to your OpenAI account.

Majority of the accounts are made from temporary email addresses and you cannot use them if they are deleted from the system after usage.

Please do not update the password, it will help others to log into to an account.

If the account is not accessible, it means that the password might be updated by anyone.

Another reason is that the account is banned or deleted or you are using the wrong password to log in.

To avoid the incorrect passwords, my recommendation is that instead of typing the password, just copy and paste the password.

If the kshared.com account from the list is devoid of an active subscription, there is a great chance that it is expired or needs to be renewed.

In this case, you need to use other Free Kshared logins from the list.

How to Fix Global Rate Limit Exceeded in ChatGPT

Last Updated on April 21, 2023 By Arsalan Rauf

Are you facing a “Whoa there! You might need to wait a bit” error when accessing ChatGPT?

The next part of the error is, “Currently we are receiving more requests than we are comfortable with!”.

Accompanied by, “To try your request again, come back in a short while and reload this page”.

And, “Global rate limit exceeded. Tracking ID: 814c5203ddf3351f4001”.

In this article, I will tell you how to fix the Global Rate Limit Exceeded error in ChatGPT or OpenAI.

What do rate limits mean in OpenAI?

Rate limits in OpenAI stand for a restriction on how many times a user can access the server within a given timeframe.

It is to avoid spamming, abusing, or misusing the API to get rid of overload that can cause the service to stop.

By distributing the number of requests to a user, the aim is to give fair access to everyone to the API.

The step is taken to make sure that most users can use the API without any delays.

Rate limits also make the model user-friendly for all the users and they can use constantly without performance problems.

How to fix Global Rate Limit Exceeded in ChatGPT

To fix the Global Rate Limit Exceeded error in ChatGPT, the first thing you need to do is to wait for an hour or two before start using the chatbot again.

You will get the error if you exceed the maximum number of requests permitted in a specific time frame.

It can also be the result of an overload when too many users are on chatbot and generating responses.

The duration of the time limit depends on ChatGPT as it sets a specific limit for it.

According to OpenAI, the default rate limit that is allowed to its users is 5 requests per second per API key.

If you exceed the limit, you will get a response form the API that is “Global Rate Limit Exceeded” error message.

You can do anything to prevent this error as the global rate limit is enforced by the ChatGPT’s system.

To avoid the error from happening again, do not try to use scripts or automated tools on the server.

Additionally, you should not send too many requests or messages at the same time.

ChatGPT allows you to use it in any browser such as Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge, and more.

However, if you are connected to a VPN or using an antivirus program, it might be causing problem with ChatGPT.

Kaspersky is the antivirus program which is a common program that results in a conflict.

When it comes to VPN, NordVPN causes the conflict.

In this article, you will see how to fix “An error occurred. If this issue persists please contact us through our help center at help.openai.com” in ChatGPT.

Why did an error occur in ChatGPT?

An error occurred in ChatGPT due to an antivirus program or a VPN service.

If you are a NordVPN user, it has the “Threat Protection” feature that can conflict with ChatGPT.

If you are an antivirus program user especially Kaspersky, this program can restrict the access to certain system resources or interfere with its network connections.

Consequently, ChatGPT will not be able to work properly or will be restricted from accessing the essential data and resources needed to generate text responses.

How to fix “An error occurred. If this issue persists please contact us through our help center at help.openai.com”

To fix “An error occurred. If this issue persists please contact us through our help center at help.openai.com”, the first thing you need to do is to turn off Threat Protection in NordVPN.

If you have installed Kaspersky Antivirus, the software should be disabled temporarily.

Solution 1: Turn off Threat Protection in NordVPN

  • If you are using NordVPN, select “Threat Protection”, and turn off “Web Protection”.
  • If the error is still there, choose “Connection” and change “VPN Protocol” to “OpenVPN”.
  • If you are using any other VPN or web-based protection, try to disable it.

How to Fix “The message you submitted was too long, please reload the conversation and submit something shorter” in ChatGPT

Last Updated on April 20, 2023 By Arsalan Rauf

You can use ChatGPT to summarize or paraphrase long form texts.

For instance, someone might want to get a summary of a transcript on a YouTube video and ask the tool to do it.

The transcript might have 10,000 words which can cause the model to stop.

However, the model contains a secret character limit to avoid overwhelming messages.

The reason is that ChatGPT will encounter technical problems and outages without this character limit.

In this article, I will tell you how to fix “The message you submitted was too long, please reload the conversation and submit something shorter” in ChatGPT.

Why is the message I submitted too long in ChatGPT?

The message you submitted is too long in ChatGPT is shown because you are exceeding the character limit.

The character limit varies from app to app or platform to platform you are using to use it.

According to ChatGPT’s training data, the bot contains a limit of about 500 to 1,000 characters per message.

However, the data is outdated because I have used the bot to check the character limit which is more than 15,000 characters now.

It can be changed keeping in view the technical consideration including the size of the input, computational resources, the server hosting the bot and the memory capacity etc.

To prevent overwhelming the bot, the limit is set by the team to avoid long messages which are hard to process.

How to fix “The message you submitted was too long, please reload the conversation and submit something shorter” in ChatGPT

To fix “The message you submitted was too long, please reload the conversation and submit something shorter” in ChatGPT, you have to split the message or shorten it.

If you’re making your message short, make sure the message should be less than 15,000 characters.

Solution 1: Shorten your message

  • You are sending the message that which is exceeding the maximum character limit permitted by the system.
  • After testing the model, I have found that the character limit set by the team is more or less 15,000 characters.
  • To prevent errors, you need to reduce the length of your message to under 15,000 characters.

Solution 2: Split up your message

  • You need to split the message into parts instead of sending it in one go.
  • For instance, if you’re trying to ask ChatGPT to summarize a transcript that has over 18,000 words, you can split the transcript up into 2 parts containing 9,000 words each.
  • Ask for a summary after copying and pasting the first part of the transcript into ChatGPT, after that, copy and paste the next part to get a summary.
