How to Turn On or Off Ambient Mode on YouTube

December 20, 2022 By Arsalan Rauf

On its 17th birthday, YouTube got an update that tries to improve its design.

After getting feedback from thousands of viewers and they came to know that they wanted a cleaner and livelier design.

The update came with a new look and multiple features that is replete with modern experience.

They added vibrancy without detracting from the habits of the viewers including looking for new content or recommended videos.

The ambient mode has a dynamic color sampling to feature an effect that makes the background color similar to the video.

The inspiration is taken from the light that screens cast out in a dark room and wished to create it again.

In this post, I will tell you how to turn on or off ambient mode on YouTube and why you don’t have that mode.

Why don’t I have Ambient Mode on YouTube?

You don’t have the ambient mode on YouTube because the feature can be used on the dark theme only.

If you’re on a light theme, you will not see the ambient mode.

The mode can be used on both desktop and mobile devices.

To move to a dark theme on YouTube from desktop, click on your YouTube profile picture > Appearance > Dark theme.

To switch to a dark theme from YouTube mobile app, tap on your YouTube profile picture > Settings > General > Appearance > Dark theme.

How to turn off ambient mode on YouTube

To turn off ambient mode on YouTube from your desktop, go to a video and watch it, click on the settings icon, and disable “Ambient mode”.

If you’re on the YouTube mobile app, go to a video and watch it, tap on the settings icon, and select “Ambient mode” to turn it off.

Another method to disable the ambient mode is to use the light theme instead of the dark theme.

From your computer:

  1. Visit youtube.com and watch a video.
  2. Click on the settings icon.
  3. Enable/disable “Ambient mode”.

From an Android/iOS device:

  1. Go to the YouTube app and watch a video.
  2. Tap on the settings icon.
  3. Select “Ambient mode” to enable/disable it.

Ambient mode gives a lighting effect that is similar to your screen’s background to the video.

In some cases, you may not find the effect as suitable as intended as some users experience lag and odd shadows.

“I turned this off because my GPU and CPU usage was spiking to 98%”.

“I don’t even know why Youtube has that enabled by default. It can be distracting and annoying especially when you can see it get brighter while you’re watching a video”.

In this case, turning ambient mode off will be ideal until YouTube improves it.

Good, Cool, Cute YouTube Channel Names

November 28, 2022 By Arsalan Rauf

You need to think about a channel name before you start uploading videos on your YouTube channel.

The channel name selected by you should be relevant to your niche.

For instance, if you want to upload videos related to gaming, the channel name should be based on gaming.

However, this is not recommended by guidelines, so it is not the basic rule to follow.

You may have come across several successful YouTuber who has a channel name irrelevant to their niche.

For instance, a channel named as “MrBeast” is irrelevant to what the channel is making videos on.

Jimmy Donaldson is a YouTuber who used his nickname “MrBeast”.

However, if you want to upload videos on different niches, it is mandatory to select a broad channel name.

In short words, you should select a channel name that is not specific for any niche more of a general kind.

On the other hand, you can also use your real name for it to avoid confusion.

This post has cute, cool and good YouTube channel names ideas that can be used for boys and girls.

Additionally, you can also change your existing YouTube channel name too.

Are YouTube channel names unique?

The answer is no, they are not unique.

In a nutshell, you can use the same channel name as someone else on YouTube is already using.

For instance, if someone has a channel name as “Green Hat Expert”, you can also use the same channel name as “Green Hat Expert”.

However, it is better you choose your own name, if you want to turn your YouTube channel into money making/business.

What should I name my YouTube channel?

The name of your YouTube channel must be unique, short and easy to remember.

For example, a unique and easy to remember username is “PewDiePie” or “T-Series”.

Try avoiding the use of numbers in the name of your channel to avoid confusion and complications.

The general formula is to select the name of your channel keeping in view your niche.

For instance, if you are a gamer and uploading videos related to gaming, your channel name should be related to gaming niche.

On the other hand, the real name can also be used for the sake of the channel name.

Furthermore, it also allows you to upload videos in any niche.

Alternatively, if you choose a name like “GameExpert”, you will be limited to gaming videos only.

So, if you will upload a video that is not related to gaming, it might cause subscribers loss.

How to Fix Monetization Option Not Showing on YouTube

November 24, 2022 By Arsalan Rauf

Is the dollar sign or monetization option not showing on YouTube/YouTube Studio and do you want to fix it?

When you try to upload your video, the monetization tab is missing.

If you have 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 watch hours on YouTube, you are eligible for the YouTube monetization program.

However, you have to abide by the guidelines and community standards.

If you get a copyright strike on the platform, you cannot monetize your videos.

In some cases, your video might be eligible for monetization but you will not be able to do it.

In this post, I will tell you why is the monetization option/tab/column not showing on YouTube or YouTube Studio and how to fix it.

Why is the monetization option not showing on YouTube?

The monetization option is not showing on YouTube due to the fact that your channel is not yet eligible for monetization.

If your channel is eligible for monetization but the option is not visible to you, it indicates that there is bug on YouTube or YouTube Studio app.

In October, many creators are getting the YouTube monetization bug.

Some creators have the option visible to them while the rest are not able to enable or disable it.

Here are some reports:

“Is anyone else’s monetization tab missing? I have no strikes on my channel and no emails from YouTube”.

“@TeamYouTube I’ve been a YouTube partner for years now and my monetization just disappeared. Any reason for this? Is there a bug that is going on right now? Is anyone else having this issue?”.

“There appears to be an issue with YouTube right now where monetization is just not there. I can’t view my monetization status and can’t monetize any videos. It’s just gone. Any other fellow creators have this issue?”.

How to fix monetization option not showing on YouTube

To fix the monetization option not showing on YouTube, you have to fulfill the criteria of 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 watch hours to be eligible.

If your channel is already monetized but can’t see the option/tab, it might be happening because of a bug/glitch on YouTube’s end.

In October, a lot of creators are affected by a monetization bug on YouTube.

According to TeamYouTube on Twitter, YouTube knows about the issue and is investigating it.

Here are replies from TeamYouTube’s:

“Sorry for the trouble, we’ve seen similar reports & are currently working on a fix. We’ll let you know once we have an update”.

“We have seen similar reports about the monetization column or icon missing in Studio. We appreciate your patience while we look into it!”.

When the bug will be fixed, you will receive a new update from YouTube on the app on Google Play Store and App Store.

For now, you have to wait patiently and wait for YouTube to fix the bug from their end (source: @TeamYouTube on Twitter).

How to Fix “One of your payments accounts was cancelled” on Google AdSense

November 19, 2022 By Arsalan Rauf

Are you facing a “One of your payments accounts was canceled” email from Google AdSense?

Another title can be, “A payments account was canceled”.

An email will be sent with, “Your payments account “AdSense pub-x” for Google AdSense was recently canceled”.

“If your balance is greater than US$10.00, you’ll receive your final payment from the canceled payments account during the next cycle”.

“Any payments less than US$10.00 won’t be processed”.

“Any other active payments account associated with Google AdSense will not be affected”.

In this post, I will tell you how to fix “One of your payments accounts was cancelled” on Google AdSense.

Why am I getting “A payments account was canceled” from AdSense?

You’re getting “A payments account was canceled” from AdSense when your payments from YouTube have been moved to a separate tab.

Google sent the email by mistake because they thought your payment account was canceled.

YouTube knows about it and they are trying to find the problem.

If you have received the email, you do not have to worry about it because your account isn’t canceled.

YouTube payments are moved to a separate tab where you can access it.

Many YouTubers are tweeting on Twitter about this email.

Here are some examples:

“Ah, Google and its mastery of communication, letting you know that your Adsense account has been canceled without telling you that it’s been replaced by a YouTube payments account, thus creating a good 5 minutes of panic. Never change Google”.

“Hey guys, I really need your help. I received an email this morning from Google AdSense that said that my payments account was recently canceled”.

“@TeamYouTube I just received an email that says “One of your payments accounts was canceled”. Is this something that needs to be looked into or just to be ignored, given I’ve seen many people having the issue?”.

How to fix “One of your payments accounts was cancelled” on Google AdSense

To fix “One of your payments accounts was canceled” on Google AdSense, you only have to go to the “AdSense for YouTube” tab.

On the other hand, you can click on the “YouTube payments” tab available on the left sidebar.

This process will help you to see your YouTube payments.

If you encountered the “One of your payments accounts was canceled” email, do not worry, because it’s a false message.

You got this by mistake because your payments account was not canceled—the options simply moved to a separate tab because of an intended AdSense update.

The purpose of this update is to separate website ad payments and YouTube payments to ensure a better user experience.

How to Fix “Pull up for precise seeking” on YouTube

November 8, 2022 By Arsalan Rauf

Are you getting a “Pull up for precise seeking” pop-up on YouTube and do you want to fix it?

Whenever you try to watch videos, the precise seeking feature will be active.

You will see a line of pictures whenever you try to use the progress bar to skip some content of the video.

Additionally, the video will be paused and you will not be able to skip it.

Some users reported that the problem only affects one specific account of Google.

The precise seeking mode will not show up if you are on a guest account.

In this post, I will tell you why is YouTube asking you to pull up for precise seeking and how to fix it.

Why is YouTube asking me to pull up for precise seeking?

YouTube is asking you to pull up for precise seeking due to a bug in the accessibility feature on the app.

According to the official Team YouTube Twitter account, they are trying to fix it.

Apparently, the android users can use the precise seeking mode by default.

Even if a user does not pull up, the mode will remain enabled.

Many users are reporting about the error on Twitter, Reddit, and other social medias.

Joe Vargas on Twitter managed to receive the response from YouTube.

Here is the Tweet, “The precise seeking feature is not working correctly. It’s on by default and I can’t turn it off! It is happening even if I don’t pull up for it! Please fix it immediately!”.

An example of Reddit post by u/imgoinginsane22, “Suddenly, I am no longer able to skip to a specific point in the video by clicking on the progress bar. When I do that, it enters precise seeking mode until I exit it”.

How to fix “Pull up for precise seeking” on YouTube

To fix “Pull up for precise seeking” on YouTube, you have to visit the accessibility settings and hide the player controls after 3 seconds.

After choosing “After 3 seconds”, the precise seeking mode will not be shown.

Additionally, it will allow you to skip certain parts of a video on YouTube again.

Here’s a step by step guide on how to hide the player controls:

  1. Go to YouTube app.
  2. Tap on your profile picture.
  3. Visit your settings.
  4. Scroll down and select “Accessibility”.
  5. Enable “Accessibility player”.
  6. Select “Hide player controls”.
  7. Select “After 3 seconds”.

Instead of choosing “After 3 seconds”, you can also select “After 5, 10, or 30 seconds”.

Finally, you can now skip certain parts of a video without boosting the precise seeking mode.

This is a temporary fix until the issue is completely resolved by YouTube.
