How to Fix Startup Crash in Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak

There are a lot of players are reporting about the startup crash in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak.

The error message is, “Fatal Application Exit” followed by “Please restart your computer”.

Usually, this error occurs because you’ve installed some mods in the game.

The issue can also happen when you are not running the game as an administrator.

To fix it, you need to run the game as an administrator or uninstall all mods.

In addition, you can also try to select compatibility mode for Windows 8.

#1: Uninstall all mods

The first way is to uninstall all mods that you’ve installed.

A user “Krim Uico” published the solution and mentioned this fix on YouTube.

They said that, “Remove all mods from your game files. I managed to fix it by deleting “dinput8.dll”

The steps to access the Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak game files by navigating to Steam > Library > Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak > Right-click > Properties > Local Files > Browse.

After clicking on “Browse”, delete all of your mods or “dinput8.dll”.

The user also got a lot of replies saying that the startup crash was fixed by following this method.

#2: Select compatibility mode for Windows 8

Another way to fix the Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak startup crash is by ticking “Run this program in compatibility mode”.

To begin with, you have to add the game to your desktop.

  1. Firstly, visit your Steam library.
  2. Right-click “Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak”.
  3. Go to “Manage”.
  4. Click on “Add desktop shortcut”.
  5. Visit your desktop.
  6. Right-click “Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak”.
  7. Select the “Compatibility” tab.
  8. Now, tick “Runccc this program in compatibility mode”.
  9. Make sure that you have selected “Windows 8”.

After ticking “Run this program in compatibility mode“, click on “Apply” next to “Ok”.

In the end, try running the game again.

#3: Run the game as an administrator

  1. Firstly, visit your Steam library.
  2. Right-click “Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak”.
  3. Go to “Manage”.
  4. Click on “Add desktop shortcut”.
  5. Visit your desktop.
  6. Right-click “Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak”.
  7. Lastly, click on “Run as administrator”.

After clicking on “Run as administrator“, the game should be run without crashing.
