How to Fix Instagram Stories Repeating

Are Instagram stories repeating when you view them and do you want to fix it?

If yes, you are in the right place.

If your friend posted a new story on Instagram, it should be shown to you immediately when you tap on their profile picture.

However, you might not see their new stories but see their old stories instead.

In this case, you have to keep tapping forward to see their latest story.

It can be frustrating when someone posted many stories because it will take a while before you get the latest story.

In this post, I will tell you why are Instagram stories repeating, why are they glitching, and how to fix them.

Why are all my Instagram stories repeating?

Instagram stories are repeating due to a bug/glitch on the app.

This bug/glitch occurred on the app of Instagram many times before.

In June 2022, the glitch is allowing the app to not remember the last story that you viewed.

Therefore, if your friend is posting a new story and you saw it, Instagram will show you the first story instead of the newest one.

A lot of Instagram users went to Twitter in order to complain about the issue.

Here is a tweet from @wydccalamity, “Why is Instagram making me view the same stories 100 times?”.

Here’s what @bennysoliven tweeted about it, “Plz Instagram I don’t wanna see people’s stories over and over again”.

Both of these tweets on Twitter got more than 180k likes and millions of impressions.

Having said that, you’re not the only one facing the repeating stories issue on Instagram because the bug or glitch is on a global level.

How to fix Instagram stories repeating

To fix Instagram stories repeating, the first step is to update Instagram to the latest version.

To begin with, open the App Store, search for the term “Instagram”, and tap on “Update”.

The last Instagram update has the repeating stories bug.

This glitch update caused Instagram to forget the last story that you watched.

For instance, if your friend published a new story and you try to view it, Instagram will show you their old stories instead.

Consequently, you will need to keep tapping forward to see their latest story.

A representative of Meta said that they know about the issue on Instagram and we have resoled the error in the new update.

The latest version of Instagram, version 239.1 contains bug fixes and performance improvements.

The update specifically gets rid of the story glitch on the app.

Why are Instagram stories glitching?

Instagram stories are glitching due to the previous app update.

The last update on Instagram caused Instagram stories to repeat themselves.

When you try and see your friend’s latest story on Instagram, you’ll view the first story that they posted instead of the new one.

Therefore, you need to constantly tap forward to see the newest story of someone on IG.

Instagram is aware of the issue as a Meta representative updated that the error has been fixed in the new update.

As a result, you need to update the IG app as early as possible.

If the update is not fixing it for some reason, you can uninstall and reinstall the Instagram app to resolve it.

When you will do that, Instagram will also be updated to the newest version.

Final Words

The Instagram app is famous for getting a number of bugs and glitches.

Some issues occur when you update the app to the newest version.

In this case, Instagram will launch another update to resolve the bugs and glitches.

In June 2022, many Instagram users reported that stories were repeating.

It seems like the update only hit iOS users.

Luckily, the Instagram team was familiar with the error and they fixed it on 15 July.

If you’re an iOS user, you need to upgrade your app to get rid of the issue.

In the future, if you ever come across an update with “Bug fixes and performance improvements”, I highly suggest that you update the app.

Although Instagram has fixed the repeating stories glitch, it can happen again in the future.

Therefore, you need to ensure that you are on an updated version of the Instagram app whenever you come across any issue.
