Last Updated on November 16, 2022 By Arsalan Rauf

Are your Facebook Marketplace messages not showing on Messenger and do you want to fix it?

If you are facing it, you won’t be able to chat with the buyer or seller.

Facebook Marketplace helps you to buy, discover and sell items.

You can find the items or products in your area by searching them which are ready for shipping.

Businesses can show their inventory for vehicles, retail items, home rentals and so on.

If you don’t want to avoid posting directly on the marketplace, you can also do the advertisement of your products.

In this post, I will tell you how to fix Facebook Marketplace messages not showing up on Messenger.

Why can’t I see messages from Marketplace on Messenger?

You can’t see messages from Marketplace on Messenger due to the shifting of Marketplace chat.

In some cases, you might have accidentally archived your chat after marking your item as sold.

On the other hand, FB messenger can be down and it is wise to wait for it to be back up.

Messenger gets multiple updates throughout the year.

With new updates, the location of the Marketplace chat has been changed.

It is accessible via your “Chats” under “Marketplace”.

For some users, they can reach the Marketplace chat by tapping on their profile picture > Marketplace.

How to fix Facebook Marketplace messages not showing on Messenger

To fix Facebook Marketplace messages not showing on Messenger, enable other users on FB to send you message, check your archived chats or try reinstalling messenger after uninstalling it.

If everything fails, it is the best choice to use the Facebook app to check your Marketplace messages instead of using Messenger.

If you have updated your Messenger recently, it might have moved its location.

It’s either can be found in your chats or in the menu under “Marketplace”.

In some cases, Messenger might not be up, so you have to inspect its status on downdetector.com/status/facebook-messenger/.

If you come across a spike in the graph, it shows that Messenger is most likely down and the best bet is to wait for a few hours for it to be back up.

Solution 1: Allow other Users on Facebook to message you

  • Go to Facebook Messenger.
  • Tap on your profile picture.
  • Select Privacy & safety > Message delivery > Others on Facebook.
  • Select “Message requests”.
  • Force exit Messenger and reopen it.

Note: This process will only allow people to message you on FB.

Solution 2: Check your archived chats

  • Go to Facebook Messenger.
  • Tap on your profile picture.
  • Select “Archived chats”.
  • Find your Facebook Marketplace chat.

Note: You might have mistakenly archived a Marketplace chat after marking an item as sold, so you need to go through your archived chats.

Solution 3: Uninstall and reinstall Messenger

  • Tap and hold the Messenger app and remove it.
  • Go to the App Store or Google Play Store.
  • Search for Messenger and reinstall it.
  • Open Messenger and sign in to your FB account.
  • Check if your Marketplace messages are available (it must be fixed now).

Note: You will be signed out of all accounts by reinstalling Messenger (so you’ll have to sign in again), but all of your chats will be available and saved as they are being stored in the database of Facebook.

Solution 4: Use the Facebook app instead

  • Go to the Facebook app.
  • Select Marketplace > Profile icon > Inbox.
  • Select “Selling” or “Buying” (it depends on the chat that you want to access).
  • Go to the chat that you want to see.

Note: If you are unable to access your Marketplace messages on Messenger, you can access them on the app of FB.

The last part of the error is, “100 Unsupported Request – method type: post”.

Are you not able to log in to the Facebook app?

The whole social media is flooded with this issue and published on platforms like Twitter.

In this post, I will tell you why Facebook says “100 Unsupported Request – method type: post” and how to fix it on Android and iOS devices.

Why does Facebook say “Unsupported request”?

Facebook says “Unsupported request” due to a bug/glitch on the app.

On the other hand, FB might be having an outage problem.

It can only be checked if Facebook is down by going to DownDetector or searching for the issue that you are getting on Twitter.

If you come across a spike in the DownDetector graph, it might be up because Facebook is down.

On September 29th, 2022, a lot of users reported the Facebook log-in problem.

A tweet by username @Pumpum_1022, “I’m not so sure if it’s hacked or anything but I logged out my account from all devices. I also changed my password, and when I tried logging in again, it keeps saying unsupported request – method type:post”.

“@facebook Hello, when I log into my account, it says unsupported request method type post. Pease solve my issue”.

Apparently, the log-in issue is a global issue that is going on in the Facebook mobile app and Messenger.

  • Use an older version of Facebook (only for Android phones): https://facebook.en.uptodown.com/android/versions.
  • Change your internet from Wi-Fi to mobile data (and vice-versa).
  • Update the FB app to the latest version.
  • Uninstall and reinstall the FB app.
  • Wait for 24 to 48 hours span.

The first way to use is to clear the cache of Facebook.

If you’re an Android user, it can be done by opening the Settings app, finding Facebook, and tapping on “Clear Cache” next to “Clear Data”.

Alternatively, you will log out of FB by clearing the app’s data.

You can also visit Uptodown and downgrade your version of Facebook and try installing an older version of it.

In some cases, the bugs and glitches are the results of the latest Facebook updates.

You can restrict those glitches and bugs by downloading an older version of Facebook and it is a temporary fix until a new update is released to fix them.

If Facebook servers are down, your best bet is to wait for 24 to 48 hours for them to be back up.

If Facebook has released a new update that offers bug fixes, you should update the app as early as possible.

If the graph has a spike in it, it means that Messenger is probably down for everyone.

You can also use another method to check if the app is down is to search for “Messenger down” on Twitter’s search engine.

Go through the latest and top tweets to find out if anyone is tweeting about it.

If Messenger is down, the app will be back after a few hours or after a new update.

The outage of the app can be checked by searching for “Facebook” in DownDetector or with the help of Twitter.

If you come across a spike in the reports’ number, it indicates that FB is down for everyone.

If Facebook is not up, the ideal way is to wait for the servers to be back up.

Some updates have bugs and glitches that Facebook needs to fix in the follow-up update.

To fix “An unexpected error occurred” on Facebook, you can create a new account from the same login credentials, try clearing the app’s cache, or installing an older version of Facebook.

Resetting your phone settings will not fix the error.

Method 1: Clear Facebook’s cache

To clear cache from Android device, use these steps, open the Settings app >  Apps > Facebook > Storage > Clear Cache > Clear Data > re-open Facebook.

Method 3: Install an older version of Facebook

  1. Go to this URL: https://facebook.en.uptodown.com/android.
  2. Install an older version of Facebook.
  3. Log into your Facebook account.

Unfortunately, you can use this method if you are using Android devices.

If you’re an iPhone user, try using the other ways instead of this one.

Method 4: Update Facebook to the latest version

Facebook also recommends updating the app as it is a troubleshooting method by them (via the Help Center).

If you’re having problems while downloading the app, try changing your network.

Having said that, some updates have bugs and glitches.

Facebook will address them and release a new update.

If you’ve already used the latest version of Facebook, you need to wait for a new update.

Method 5: Wait for 24-48 hours

If everything fails, it probably indicates that Facebook is down for everyone.

In this case, you can do nothing but wait for 24 to 48 hours for the servers to be back up.

In some cases, the waiting process may last for a few hours and the “An unexpected error occurred” will fix itself.

Do not worry, it is common to face Facebook outages throughout the years.

So, it is not a new thing that the app is down right now.
